What is "Cat-Trax"?

"Cat-Trax" is Wildcat's name for Eclipse' RDC (Remote Data Collection) subsystem. It consists of a module of utilities added into Eclipse and a wireless handheld scanning device (referred to as the Cat-Paw) that is used to collect usage data. The MC55A0 requires a docking/charging cradle that connects to a computer via a USB connection. For remote use, the computer must have an active and secure wireless internet connection.

What's it do?

Cat-Trax is used to create orders or count inventory at a remote location, typically a customer's facility. Using Cat-Trax a customer can manage their consigned inventory, tracking its use by job, creating billing for material as it's used, and having replenishment shipments automatically created. It can also be used to take inventory of consigned product.

Advantages of a Cat-Trax consignment!

Cat-Trax is used to create orders or count inventory at a remote location, typically at a customer's facility. Using Cat-Trax a customer can manage their consigned inventory, tracking its use by job, only creating billing for material as it's used, and having replenishment shipments automatically created. It can also be used to easily take inventory of consigned products.

Cat-Trax can be programmed to use the customer’s part numbers! These are entered into the Eclipse' Customer Information page by Wildcat personnel and are automatically translated to Wildcat part numbers each time the Cat-Paw scanner unit is synced after a pulling session to allow traceability for the customer.

How is a Cat-Trax consignment replenished? Min/Max quantities are entered for each consigned product and, at set intervals; the Salesman would run a utility for Eclipse to compare the Min/Max quantities to the consigned inventory levels. The system would then generate a Consignment Replenishment transfer to ship to the customer, bringing their on-hand balances back up to the pre-determined "Max" levels. Min/Max levels can be adjusted at any time to increase or decrease the consignment levels based on customer usage or other reasons such as accommodating large projects, etc.

Replenishment turn-around time is FAST! Wildcat Electric Supply’s fleet of drivers cover the entire Houston area twice daily and in many cases a mid-morning order can arrive on-site at the customer the very same afternoon! The replenishment process is designed to occur automatically and with the exception of restocking the clearly labeled shelves when replacement material arrives, this process requires no action on the customer’s part thereby saving even more time, hassle and money.

Speaking of saving time and money, Cat-Trax saves production time by ensuring the parts customers need are already on-site, at no cost until individual items are utilized! No more down-time waiting for product to be shipped to complete projects! No more hassling and maintaining high overhead costs of keeping large supplies of inventory resulting in less tax liability in not having your company own stagnant material.

Savings and convenience are also realized in the billing process. Cat-Trax consignments are set-up to the customer’s specifications and customized billing and usage reporting is made easy. Customers can be billed in one consolidated invoice at any determined schedule, with each transaction tagged with your corresponding Work Order or P.O. number. Customers can also be billed in one easy to read invoice, broken into costs on a per-project basis to allow for better tracking and job costing abilities. Consolidating invoices eliminates the inconvenience of customers receiving multiple invoices sporadically and having to process them in piece-mail fashion, so the entire account can be paid on-time and with the ease of only processing ONE invoice per billing cycle! The billing process can be customized to fit your needs. For example, invoices can be consolidated by your actual work order or P.O. number and sectioned and labeled by each individual job for an easy read to help provide better management and costing abilities. Invoicing consolidated by work order/P.O. # & number of invoices vary by how many work orders are scanned per billing cycle. The following excerpt shows the cost savings significance of consolidating invoices over traditional individual invoices:

What does it cost to pay an invoice? Cost per transaction can represent an important KPI. When attempting to quantify the true cost of processing payment on an invoice, you need to consider the following six categories:

Ø Direct Labor Costs (employee fully burdened salary)

Ø Indirect Labor Costs (IT support, turnover ratios)

Ø Equipment Costs

Ø Postage and Supplies Costs (don’t forget bank charges)

Ø Administrative and Overhead Costs (allocate overhead by employee, HR costs, etc.)

Ø Other Costs

IOMA, the Institute of Management and Administration, publishes a leading AP benchmarking study. Its 2010 study shows the median cost to pay an invoice is $6.24, with an average of $11.63. Even highly automated AP departments experienced a median cost of $5.78 per bill. Interestingly, there is little correlation between the cost to process an A/P invoice and the size of the company.

PRICING ADVANTAGE! Pricing on consignment items is extremely competitive and based upon usage history. Another HUGE advantage of a Cat-Trax consignment is FREE shipping on regular consignment transfers to replenish the customer’s product levels! This is another EXTREME cost-saving benefit directly affecting the customer’s bottom line over a traditional order as you need it approach.

Your Cat-Trax consignment account is constantly monitored and each pulling order is reviewed by experienced Wildcat personnel to ensure accuracy and help the consignment run smoothly. Periodic inventory counts are performed on-site to ensure accurate billing and inventory levels and to further ensure the quality of the on-hand product.

Detailed and customized reports in any configuration can be sent to a customer at any time or interval. The report data can be downloaded to an easily manipulated Excel spreadsheet to allow it to be imported directly into the customer’s database, where possible thereby saving painful data entry maximizing accuracy. This will help you to analyze product history and help with forecasting product usage.
